Official Android Froyo 2.2 Update for Samsung Captivate

COULD IT BE TIME

When the Samsung Captivate launched it was equipped with the Android Eclair 2.1 operating system, and it was good. As with all good things in technology, something better was always right around the corner. That good thing for the Captivate was the promise of the Android Froyo 2.2 operating system.

Although the Eclair 2.1 software isn't bad, the Froyo 2.1 software promises the following:

*Overall better speed performance
*MS Exchange support
*Improved application launching
*USB tethering and WIFI Hotspot
*Option to Disable Data Access over Mobile Network
*Updated Market
*Quick Switching between keyboard languages and dictionaries
*Voice dialing and contact sharing over Bluetooth
*File Upload fields in browser
*Display animated GIFs
*Ability to install applications to expandable memory
*Adobe Flash 10.1

AT&T released an OTA update in September but it wasn't the anticipated Froyo 2.2 software. The update only addressed GPS issues the Captivate was experiencing. When it comes to GPS issues, the Captivate has been a nuisance to deal with. Those of us who couldn't wait attempted to download the leaked Froyo 2.2 software. This requires a rooted device so many have decided to wait for the official download instead because rooting the Captivate voids the warranty. I attempted the leaked version but had too many issues with my MMS; so I returned to the Eclair 2.1 software and continued to wait.

On November 12, 2010, AT&T sent numerous text messages informing customers with the Samsung Captivate that they would be prompted to install a update for their device, and when asked, to select OK. I immediately became antsy thinking it may be Froyo 2.2 finally! So far I have tried to update 3 times and each time it failed to update after the phone self restarted. Numerous sources have stated that the update will be live sometime today so I guess I have to practice a little restraint until then. If you are waiting for the update, be careful of when you attempt to install it. If the update has not gone live and you attempt to update, you will have to wait another 24 hours before attempting again after failing.

The AT&T store is being very tight lipped on the subject..either that or they just don't know anything because the majority of them are iPhone carriers..lol! We just have to wait and see guys! Hopefully by this time tomorrow we can put those apps on our SD cards and use ringtones for our synced contacts just as we do the ones we add via our device.

Fame and Misfourtune--Bow Wow Contemplating Suicide

When the Living "THE LIFE" Can Almost End It

So many people that are followers of Shad Moss aka "Bow Wow" may have come across his tweets on November 6th contemplating how peaceful his life would be if he ended it all. He didn't actually say he was going to kill himself but we all still recognize his words as a cry for help. He even went on to say that he would trade his fame and fortune in for a normal life; maybe even hit the books and go back to school.

These are all obvious signs of kids getting into the industry too young and as a result, later wishing for a life they clearly know nothing about. I don't think normal would bring you any more peace than you have now Shad because you wouldn't know what normal is. You have been a star since you were 13 years old, normal is not a luxury you can afford at this point. It is sad for the youth in the entertainment business because they clearly have been deprived of the lessons "going without" can teach about life. You have to find a inner peace that no one can touch. Plenty of dead kids without the riches, whom have taken their own lives, can attest to troubles finding you no matter how many zeros rest in your bank account.

I am not one to pass judgement on anyone so my prayers are extended to the young man. As words of wisdom, when you feel pressure setting in, just step away from the worldly things and retreat in quiet meditation. Don't tweet about it because I am sure some of the remarks I have seen could possibly depress you even more. Notice the silence of your true friends and family and seek their love and guidance. As for the normal life; trust me..it's never going anywhere. You can always drop everything for a while and go to school and focus on something besides rapping and acting. It doesn't mean you're not good at that stuff; it just means you are good at other things too. I would actually like to see you give the hooping and school a shot!
